Katelyn Cartier grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin—Green Bay, magna cum laude. Kate attended both the University of Minnesota and Marquette University for law school, ultimately obtaining her Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University.

Kate considers herself a plaintiff’s attorney through and through. Upon graduating law school, Kate joined a personal injury law firm in Minneapolis, MN where she had the opportunity to represent members of the community during some of the most difficult times of their lives against large, faceless insurance companies.

Next, Kate joined a consumer rights law firm northeast of the Twin Cities where she had the opportunity to represent consumers nationwide and hold creditors, debt collectors, and the consumer reporting agencies accountable when they ran afoul of the strictures of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and other consumer protection statutes. Kate then joined Fields Law Firm and currently practices long term disability and personal injury work.

Kate is highly adept at working with clients while at their most vulnerable, navigating them through the legal process by distilling down complex legal concepts, having open and honest communications, and ensuring clients know and feel comfortable with the direction of their case, and, ultimately, doing whatever it takes to secure the best outcome. Kate recognizes that it is a privilege to be an attorney and never forgets that lawyers work for their clients, not the other way around.

Ms. Cartier is admitted to practice in Minnesota state court, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, Wisconsin state court, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Kate is a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice and Minnesota Women Lawyers. She volunteers her time with the Volunteer Lawyer’s Network and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services.

When not working, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and rescue dog, Jules, as well as traveling, baking, being outdoors, and eating at new and up-and-coming restaurants.
