Librado – Systems Support Technician – Bakersfield, California
Cervical Radiculopathy, Myalgia, Muscle Weakness, Paresthesia of the Skin
A systems support technician from California had to stop working due to his painful, disabling medical conditions, including cervical radiculopathy, myalgia, muscle weakness, and paresthesia of the skin. Although his claim for Short Term Disability was approved by Mutual of Omaha, his subsequent claim for Long Term Disability was denied.
Unable to work, and now without his financial safety net, he reached out to Fields Law for assistance. The Fields team gathered medical records and a Functional Capacity Evaluation that showed our client’s inability to work. The attorneys drafted an appeal, urging Mutual of Omaha to grant the client the benefits to which he was entitled. His Long Term Disability benefits were granted, and he received a check for the backpay that had accrued on his claim.

Depression and Anxiety
An IT professional from California was unable to keep working when his depression and anxiety worsened for several months. He received Short Term Disability benefits, but when it came time for Long Term Disability benefits, he was denied by Guardian.
Needing to protect his income, he turned to Fields Law. Not long after his LTD benefits would have kicked in, he returned to work. After our appeal, Guardian approved his claim for the amount of time he was out of work.

Hypertension
An outside sales representative from California was forced out of work due to the severity of his hypertension. He received Long Term Disability benefits without interruption for more than ten years until Guardian abruptly stopped issuing monthly payments.
