We've got you covered

Darcell – RPO Specialist – Hammond, Indiana

Degenerative Disc Disease, Diabetes, Neuropathy, Hypertension

An RPO specialist from Indiana was forced out of work due to degenerative disc disease and diabetic neuropathy. She underwent several surgeries on her spine, but nothing helped get her pain fully under control. She was initially approved by The Hartford for Long Term Disability benefits, but after only a few months her payments were terminated.

Needing help to appeal the termination, she turned to Fields Law. Our team gathered her medical records and arranged for a functional capacity evaluation which supported her inability to work. The Hartford then reversed the decision and approved our client for ongoing Long Term Disability benefits and a lump sum payment for the benefits owed to her.

Danielle – Mechanic – North Vernon, Indiana

Systemic Degenerative Bone Disease, Sciatic Nerve Damage, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, IBS

A mechanic from Indiana developed systemic degenerative bone disease and was forced out of work. After leaving work, she began suffering from extensive mental health issues. She applied for and was granted Long Term Disability benefits. She remained on claim for two years before Unum canceled her benefits when her policy changed the definition of “Totally Disabled.”

Knowing she needed help appealing Unum’s decision, she retained Fields Law to fight for her case. The Fields team began requesting updated medical records from her providers and crafting an appeal of the insurer’s arguments in their denial letter. The Fields attorneys submitted their appeal and within a few weeks, Unum had overturned their prior denial and were issuing a check for back benefits.

Lorraine – Senior Solutions Architect and Project Manager – Gary, Indiana

Status Post Colon Surgery, Lupus, Colostomy Bag Requirement, Irregular Bowel Syndrome, Asthma, High Blood Pressure, Bilaterally Torn Rotator Cuffs, Bilateral Knee Hip Arthritis, C-Differentiation Syndrome

An Indiana woman had worked as a Senior Solutions Architect and Project Manager for many years before she began to develop extensive gastrointestinal issues severe enough to cause her to stop working altogether. She also suffered from bilaterally torn rotator cuffs and knee and hip degeneration. She applied for Long Term Disability benefits from her insurance carrier and was approved. Her benefits ran for about two years, when the insurer suddenly terminated them. The insurer claimed in their denial letter that she could return to an alternate sedentary level IT position.

She hired Fields Law to fight the insurer and appeal their denial decision. The Fields Law team filed an appeal of the insurer’s decision, but the denial was ultimately upheld. The Fields Law attorneys then filed a lawsuit in Minnesota District court against the insurer, arguing that their denial determination was inappropriate and not supported by the evidence. Faced with mounting litigation costs and a strong argument from our attorneys, the parties were able to agree to a settlement of the disability claim.
